Tunghai Students brings back a prize from 2016 Cross-Straits The Art of War Debate Competition

Six students from Tunghai Departments of Sociology, Law, Fine Arts, and Graduate Schools of Sociology and Politics teamed up to participate in the “2016 Cross-Straits The Art of War Youth Debate Competition,” held in Shandong, China. The students are Chun-Chiao Yang, Kuan-Chern Pan, Hsin-Huei Chang, Chi-Ming Lin, Chang-Jer Hsu, and Yen-Yu Chen.
Participating teams in the competition included Tunghai University, Chengchi University, Soochofu University from Taiwan, and Linyi University, Suzhou University of Science and Technology, Binzhou University from China.
The Tunghai team joined in the competition for the first time this year and received the first place, with student Chang being honored as the “Best Debater” and others as outstanding debaters. Team members Yang and Chang expressed their victorious joy afterwards, saying that they were extremely glad to win a prize in Tunghai’s first participation and would pass on the contest experience to juniors who would compete next year in order for them to achieve a good performance.
Besides the competition, the hosting organization also planned a deep cultural tour to visit Qufu, the hometown of Confucius; Binzhou, the hometown of Sun Tzu; and Mount Tai, one of the Five Greatest Mountains of China.
The competition was co-organized by the Taiwan Chunghua Suntzubingfa Research Association and the China Binzhou Suntzubingfa Research Association. By holding the competition, not only was The Art of War promoted, but the interaction between Taiwanese and Chinese students also increased.
