Tunghai University-News--2016 Tunghai University Malaysia Musicals
To enhance international arts interaction, the 2016 Tunghai University Malaysia Musicals were held at Malaysian Chung Hwa High School on September 7th and Malaysian Hin Hua High School on September 9th.
The event specially invited Dr. Thomas Linde from the Tunghai Department of Music to attend as the main pianist. Prof. Linde holds a doctorate in piano performance from Indiana University at Bloomington where he graduated with distinction. He has been active throughout Taiwan and abroad as a piano teacher, soloist, performer with orchestra, chamber musician and accompanist. Additionally, he has served on the faculties of the Prague International Piano Master classes, the CCM Prague International Piano Institute and the Amalfi Piano Festival.
Dr. Yi-Lin Hsu, who earned her doctorate at the University of California, Santa Barbara and currently serves as an Associate Professor in the Tunghai Department of Music, is the soprano of this musical event. Prof. Hsu has played leading roles in numerous operas, including Le Nozze di Figaro, Norma and other western classic operas, as well as oratorios and symphonic and choral works. She is able to perform in ten languages. Tours have taken her to the lands of America, Europe, Asia, Africa, and Oceania. Professor Hsu graced the two musical events with unforgettably beautiful performances.
Tunghai University fully appreciates arrangements and assistances provided by both Malaysian high schools. They highly contributed in helping Tunghai to share musical blessings with the local Malaysian teachers and students, which is definitely life-enriching.
