The Foreign Culture & Food Festival of the 2016 Tunghai International Fest started on March 23rd, 2016. As the university president Dr. Mao-Jiun Wang mentioned in the opening speech, Tunghai University not only puts much effort in short- and long-term oversea exchange programs for students, but also welcomes many outstanding international students to enroll and study on the beautiful campus.
Mr. Yo-Ren Chou, Director of Taichung First Office of National Immigration Agency, also spoke in the opening ceremony. For three consecutive years, the office set up informational booth during the event to help international students with visa matters, as well as to handle emigration and immigration questions for Taiwanese students. Director Chou said that the Taichung First Office of National Immigration Agency had been organizing educational workshops and lectures regarding legal affairs and family education monthly. The events provide general living information of Taiwan. All foreigners in Taiwan are welcomed to attend.

With the blessings from our honorable guests and the university faculty, the three-day festival began. Besides the unique Southeast Asian dishes, such as Malaysian Bak Kut Teh, curry, Indonesian Sate, and Vietnamese spring rolls, Japanese Fried Noodles in Bread (Yakisoba Pan) and Chinese Spicy Soup Noodles were also popular among students. Long lines of customers were formed in front of each booth.
In addition to the three-day Foods Festival, the three-week long Tunghai International Fest organizes various speeches and sharing events. Topics include Aspects of Studying Abroad, Travel Writing and Art Creation, Embracing the Dream of the World, Introduction of Oversea Study, and experience-sharing about studying abroad from Tunghai students. It is hoped that through multiple channels and activities, Tunghai students will better broaden their international perspectives. The International Fest event will serve as a door-opener for our students to explore the world outside of Taiwan.
