Former President of Tunghai Unversity Dr. Ko-wang Mei, aged 100, passed peacefully at his resident in Tunghai Campus in the morning of April 1st. The university faculty and students are profoundly sorrowful for the news. He is survived by his wife Mrs. Su-lin Lu, one son and four daughters.

Dr. Ko-wang Mei was the fourth President of Tunghai University during 1978-1992. He worked with great energy to create closer ties between the University and society by bringing the extension education program to the community in Taichung region. Current Tunghai President Dr. Mao-Jiun Wang said he was shocked and sad for the decease of Dr. Mei. As a Tunghai alumnus, he thanked Dr. Mei for the 14 years of outstanding contribution to the University.

In memory of Dr. Mei, Tunghai University and Taiwan Development Institute have co-founded the
Mei Ko-wang College
