The first prize winner, CAV- inspected Characteristic differences between optical devices made with different processes, was done by Heng-Yi Lin and Wei-Min Chen. The CAV inspection technology is used to analyze differences between different process models (CNC, 3D printing, reverse engineering) and the prototype data to provide references for optical device development.
Graduate students, Guan-Ting Chiang, Yu-Han Sun, and Jun-Jie Yeh, studied the amount of deformation in 3D printed devices and won the Excellence Award. A child nasal cannula made of silicon with 3D printing technology was inspected using CAV technology plus GOM Inspect software to analyze differences in product forms. With data collected from the study, optimal material for making nasal cannula was identified and put into further clinical verification.
3D measurement is an advanced technology in three-dimensional digitization. Digitized grids are formed through scanning and widely applied in reverse engineering and computer aided verifications. It is becoming the standard solution for industrial quality control in product manufacturing. The Digital Design Lab. Of the Dept. of Industrial Engineering and Enterprise Information at Tunghai University is equipped with CAD (CATIA, Solidworks, AutoCAD)/ CAM(PowerMILL)/ CAE(ANSYS) software, 3D printer (FDM, SLA), 3-axis/ 5-axis CNC tool, CNC laser cutter/ engraver, etc. Students are encouraged to familiarize themselves with these industrial facilities through various competitions and projects so as to accumulate advantages for the career market.
