"2021 Taichung Software Park Technology Day and Presentation of Innovation Application Accelerator Achievements" were held on October 22. In addition to introducing Taichung Software Park (TSP) accelerator, the smart manufacturing site and its incubation mechanism and characteristics, the event also included the presentation of final winners of the TSP Beauson Cup startup competition, a joint exhibition of AI research results of universities in Central Taiwan, a visit to the AIoT smart manufacturing site, and a startup roadshow with investor meetings. Startups from the Park were invited to share their experience in working with the AIoT smart manufacturing site.
The Export Processing Zone Administration (EPZA) Director Bo-Geng Yang said that the Taichung Software Park was established in 2019 to boost startups in the region and to provide verification fields and shared service resources. To-date, there are 36 startup teams that are tenants in the accelerator site. The TSP accelerator site will continue to provide high-quality space and hardware/software facilities, integrate industry and academic resources, focus on smart applications, and recommend innovative solutions developed by the teams to the industry, so that an all-win situation for industry, government, and academia will be achieved through industrial upgrade.
Chairman of the Academia-Industry Consortium of Taichung Software Park (AiCTSP) and President of Chaoyang University of Technology, Tao-Ming Cheng, said that in order to proactively link enterprises and academia, the Export Processing Zone Administration of the MoEA invited AIoT companies to jointly set up the "AIoT Smart Manufacturing Application Site" in the Taichung Software Park to provide one-stop industry Services, and to explore opportunities for intelligent transformation. In 2021, the TSP Accelerator continues to cooperate with Tunghai University to organize the second "Beauson Cup Innovation and Startup Competition" and invite AiCTSP members to join the thematic AI joint exhibition. The event creates links of the academia with the industry and attracts outstanding talents to join Taichung Software parks and the AI industry.
Tunghai University Vice President Li-Chih Wang said that at Tunghai University, the application of smart innovation is called AI+, AI elements are added to all majors to drive the basic career capabilities of our students. Tunghai is happy to take the role of integrating universities in Central Taiwn. Thanks to the EPZA for entrusting Tunghai in the incubation project which has created a successful industry-government-academic cooperation experience in the TSP. Tunghai University has been founded for 66 years. “Pioneering will be our watchword,” said late president Beauson Tseng. The driving force of innovation has been different in each generation, but we keep moving forward. This year, innovation technologies were used by many teams, demonstrating the spirit of organizing the Beauson Cup competition. VP Wang thanked the competing universities for their participation and the EPZA for its long-term support.
The one-day event was kicked off by a 16-robot dance developed by Taichung Municipal Wufeng Agricultural & Industrial High School, demonstrating the achievement of industry-academia cooperative incubation in the Taichung Software Park. Twenty winning teams of the Beauson Cup competition were awarded, along with 15 startup teams taking part in the innovation roadshow and angel-fund meetings.
