Tunghai University-News--2017 Cross-Straits Sustainable Operation Innovations, Changes, and Challenges Seminar
During his welcome remarks, Tunghai President Mao-Jiun Wang took the cooperation project among Tunghai, Kodak, and Corning glass as an example to introduce innovation and changes. Honorable guests included former Tunghai President and current Vice President of the University of Macau Dr. Haydn Chen, Chair Professor Chi Schive of the Department of Economics of Shih Hsin University, Vice Presidents Dr. Meiliana Suparman and Dr. Hepy Hefri Ariyanto of Batam International University (UIB), Dean Dr. Iskandar Itan of the College of Economics of UIB, Professor Yu-Jane Liu of Guanghua School of Management of Peking University, Director Rongxin Cai of the EMBA Center of Lingnan College of Sun Yat-sen University, EMBA students of Dalian University of Technology, and more representatives.

The morning session consisted of five speeches discussing the two main topics: “New generation educational innovation in business and management” and “New generation career development and corporate supervision mechanism.” The first topic, “new generation educational innovation in business and management,” started with Vice President Haydn Chen’s talk about University of Macau experience-based education and university soft skill development, followed by Professor Chi Schive’s talk about how Trump’s taxing and trading policies impacted cross-straits economic development. Lastly, UIB VP Suparman elaborated on effective allocation of business management education budgets. The second topic, “new generation career development and corporate supervision mechanism,” had UIB Dean Itan explained the operation of family businesses, followed by Prof. Yu-Jane Liu discussing about China’s digital finance progress. Through the insights of the speakers, participants were able to look deeper into new generation topics and trends.
The afternoon session was devoted to academic paper presentations in fields including business administration, finance, accounting, economics, international trades, and informatics management. An EMBA forum was also arranged to allow professionals to exchange and share their ideas and research results.
The seminar covered a broad spectrum of topics, hoping to generate more interactions regarding international business administration academically and practically. By aligning multi-disciplinary insights, we hope to raise energy for research and exchange, establishing another milestone for cross-straits and south-east Asia collaborations.
