ZCTSA is founded! Tunghai University, in its commitment towards achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2050, established the "Zero Carbon Technology and Services Alliance (ZCTSA)" on Oct. 27th. This alliance, supported by the National Science and Technology Council's Industry-Academia Alliance Cooperation Program, will assist enterprises in advancing carbon reduction technologies and services.

To realize the promotion of net-zero carbon emissions, Tunghai University established the "Zero Carbon Technology and Services Alliance (ZCTSA)" this year. Led by Vice President Chang Jo-Shu and a research team, the focus of this year's initiative is on "energy-saving and carbon reduction as well as carbon-negative technologies." Supported by a three-year project grant from the National Science and Technology Council, the alliance will systemize greenhouse gas inventorying (ISO14064) and promote water and energy-saving technologies as well as carbon reduction and negative carbon technologies across various industries, bridging the gap between academia and industry. Distinguished guests attending include Director Chuang Lao-Da from the Council of Agriculture's Climate Change Adaptation and Net Zero Emissions Office, Chen Hung-Yi, Director of Taichung Environmental Protection Bureau, Lin Min-Chi, Specialist Commissioner of Taichung Economic Development Bureau, Su Xiao-Zhen, Sustainability CEO of Carrefour Foundation, Hsiung Yi-Xi, Director of CommonWealth Magazine Survey Center, Chiu Chi-Cheng, Chairman of Ivy League Schools Foundation, Chen Shu-Fen, Chairman of Champ Home, Chen Hsin-Ming, Chairman of Simmy Seafood Co., Ltd,, Wang Zhen-Yu, President of TCT Co., Ltd., and Shi Yu-Chen, CEO of Steinlux Green Capital Co., Ltd., representing Tunghai University are President Chang Kuo-En, Vice President Chang Jo-Shu, Director Yang Chao-Tung from the Office of Library and Information Services, Director Chen Ho-Wen from the Office of Sustainable Development, and Executive Director Luo Yung-Chien of the Alliance.
President Chang Kuo-En of Tunghai University stated that the establishment of this alliance originated from the grant of the National Science and Technology Council's Industry-Academia Alliance Program. With Vice President Chang Jo-Shu as the host, Tunghai University has been dedicated to promoting sustainability in recent years. It has not only been recognized with awards annually but also pioneered the integration of campus environmental design, pooling school research resources to establish a sustainable low-carbon campus demonstration area, providing internship opportunities within the university and linking with external enterprises to promote and demonstrate carbon reduction, carbon sequestration, and circular economy technologies. President Chang further mentioned that Tunghai University has made significant efforts in sustainable development, actively promoting sustainable courses, nurturing research and projects, ecological restoration, industry-academia cooperation in technology, and establishing the Tunghai Smart Carbon Neutral Zone. The university hopes to assist industries practically through the Industry-Academia Alliance, utilizing algae and carbon-negative carbon fixation technologies to plan and implement the path to carbon negativity.

Chuang Lao-Da, Director of the Council of Agriculture's Climate Change Adaptation and Net Zero Emissions Office, expressed gratitude for Tunghai University's active involvement in sustainable actions. He commended the efforts and encouraged sharing and expansion across various sectors. Recognizing Tunghai's academic and technological advancements, he encouraged all corporate partners to collaborate and expand connections. He highlighted that besides the innovative technical service chain, the Alliance serves as an excellent platform for matchmaking and exchange. With the complementary advantages of industries, it will undoubtedly step by step verify the future of net-zero emissions.
Vice President Chang Jo-Shu mentioned that through the establishment of this alliance, they aim to jointly promote carbon inventorying, carbon reduction technology guidance and development, cultivate carbon management talents, and utilize the Tunghai Carbon Neutral Zone as a practical platform for carbon reduction and negative carbon technologies. Currently, more than 20 enterprises have joined as members, and several experts in net-zero carbon and carbon reduction have been invited to serve as advisors for the alliance. Chang further emphasized that being a sustainable paradigm university is not just a mission but also a responsibility, and Tunghai will continue to exert its social influence in the direction of sustainable net-zero emissions. Together, they aim to contribute to the Earth's environment and humanity's sustainable development.
