The International College (IC) at Tunghai University attracts many international students from all over the world every year. Many of them are from Taiwan’s diplomatic allies and are provided scholarships by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs including Daniel Aroka, a Honduran student in the IC’s Sustainability Science and Management Program (SSM).

Tunghai University International College IC Earth Day !
Following the recent news of Honduras breaking diplomatic ties with Taiwan, scholarships for Honduran students will soon be suspended. Even without the financial support from Taiwan, Daniel has decided to try his best to stay and finish his degree at SSM. As a way to say “thank you” to Taiwan, he has organized a river cleaning event on Earth day. Teachers and students from more than 20 different countries will be cleaning up an irrigation canal in Quingshu District on April 23rd to show their appreciation to Taiwan.

The International College Dean James Sims
James Sims, The International College Dean, said :I am very proud of our students in the IC, especially those in SSM and IBA, for taking the initiative in making the earth a cleaner and healthier place. This young generation faces a myriad of problems when it comes to preserving the planet. Nevertheless, I am glad to see students taking responsibility for their own future, and I hope that they carry on this mentality for years to come.
