THU Signed Academic Collaboration Agreement with Jinan University

Jinan University (JNU), located in Guangzhou, China, is the first government founded university dedicated for overseas Chinese students. It is one of key universities enlisted in the Chinese “211 Education Engineering Project”. JNU now has the largest number of international students among the universities in China. The JNU delegation led by President Prof. Hu Jun visited THU on March 9 to sign an academic collaboration agreement between two universities.
During his welcome speech, THU President Dr. Mao-Jiun Wang indicated that one of the features of THU is having many foreign faculty members since the university was founded. THU is still one of the universities with the largest number of foreign teaching faculties in Taiwan. THU provides a well-develop study environment in all departments to cultivate students with outstanding skills in creative thinking. Particularly the Po-Ya school and the tradition of labor education were designed to support our students in personality development.

JNU President Prof. Hu Jun indicated that the year 2016 marks the 110th anniversary of the University. Being the first university in China to recruit foreign students, JNU now has 12,219 foreign students among the total of 50,000 students. The amount of overseas Chinese students in JNU counts for an amazing 50% of those in the whole China, coming from 106 different counties and regions. The Guangdong provincial government is actively developing education. JNU has received 1 billion RMB funding from its government and is eager to recruit talent and to renew its teaching and research facilities in order to provide students with a better education environment.
Through the signing of agreement, future collaborations between the two universities include joint research of faculties and exchange of students.
