A special Graduation Ceremony for international students was held on June 5th at the Luce Chapel and live broadcasted on Youtube and Facebook.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the university-wide graduation ceremony was cancelled. However, a virtual graduation ceremony for all international graduating students was organized by the Office of International Relations. President Mao-Jiun Wang, Vice President Li-Chih Wang, Management College Dean Horng-Ji, Science College Dean Ding-Ya Yang, and Law College Dean Chun-Hsiung Cho joined the ceremony.
Among the 193 international graduates this year, 84 joined the online graduation ceremony. They are students from Malaysia, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Macau, China, Brazil, USA, Japan, South Korea, El Salvador, India, Mongolia, Kingdom of Eswatini, France, Spain, Thailand, Kyrgyzstan, and Vietnam. International College Dean James Sims, Social Sciences College Dean Wen-Den Chen, Industrial Engineering Department Chair Kuo-Ping Lin, International Officer Chief Annie Tsai, Deputy Chief International Officer Chen-Jui Huang attended the ceremony in person at the Luce Chapel to turn the tassels online for the graduates.
CIO Tsai led the opening prayer before President Wang made his remarks. President Wang congratulated the students for the completion of an adventurous learning journey and encouraged them to take on new challenges and explore new opportunities. President Wang said that with the education received at Tunghai University, he hoped the graduates will never stop learning and progressing to create a meaningful and gainful life. Vice President Wang encouraged the graduates to strive to become a valuable person instead of a successful person, to value oneself on what they contribute to the society. He also thanked the parents of the students for trusting Tunghai University and sending their children to Taiwan for their education.
Graduation remarks were made by student representatives from China Run-Qi Xiao and Shu-Qi Wang, Indonesia Leonardo Joeshua, Hong Kong/Macau Ao Ieong Cheong Teng, Japan Kawashima Hikaru, Malaysia Xiu Ping Chua, and Brazil Salazar Gustavo. The live broadcast was made via Google Meet to include online interactions and tassel turnings, inviting both graduating students and their parents to join. The ceremony concluded with an inspirational song sung online by Hui Teng Tan (Malaysia), Priscilla Celine (Indonesia) and Ji Yun Yang (South Korea).
