The three scholars visited the library of the Fine Arts Department, the studios of senior and master students, and had enthusiastic discussions with students and teachers. A meeting on the topic of the state-of-the-art Eastern Gouache painting and its educational evolution in Taiwan was held by the following Professors: Chien-Yu Chan, Chen-Huei Lee, Yen-Liang Lin, Han-Ping Lu, Yi-Chia Chen and Japanese artist Hakuta Yoshuya who currently lives in Taiwan. The visitors especially focused on the purpose of observing the impact on the history of fine arts in Taiwan based on the course structure on Eastern Gouache of the Tunghai Department. of Fine Arts. The Department of Fine Arts is the pioneer of and an unyielding promoter for the education and research on Eastern Gouache painting courses.
The cooperation between Tunghai University and Tokyo University of the Arts has been made possible through the efforts of many esteemed educators, including the following professors: Miyasako Masaaki, Saito Norihiko, Seki Izuru, Arai Kei, Furuta Ryo, and Nakajima Chinami. Starting from 2008, numerous forums, lectures, demonstrations and workshops have been co-organized and mutual growth has been facilitated.

The Tunghai Summer Camp on Eastern Gouache will be held for the 20th time this year. There will be an international academic conference and a special exhibition at the Tunghai Arts Center. Representatives from Tokyo University of the Arts, Kyoto City University of Arts, Tama Art University, Aichi University of the Arts and other art institutes will come to Taiwan for the creation of another memorable event.
