NEU students visit Taiwan High Speed Rail
Besides regular lecture hours in classrooms and discussions with students of Tunghai IE students, the visiting group made several field visits to enrich the program in Taiwan.
The visit to the Operation Control Center of Taiwan High Speed Rail provided the students with a first-hand observation of the security measures in response to various conditions required to serve a 250-km-long safe and smooth journey for an average of 175 thousand passengers every day. After the Taiwan High Speed Rail, the students moved on to National Tsing Hua University and were amazed by the unique designs in the Institute of Service Science and the developments in AI Manufacturing Systems (AIMS).

They were much impressed by the service model combining out-patient clinic and hospitalization, as well as the highly intelligent service system. In Chung Shan Medical University Hospital, VP Dr. Ming-Che Tsai introduced the smart hospital bed and the paperless management system. The students were highly interested and praised the excellent quality of the health insurance system in Taiwan.

A study abroad program to Taiwan will not be complete without an inspiring Chinese language course and tours with cultural highlights. The students learned to introduce themselves in Chinese, wrote with Chinese calligraphy, made rice dumplings and local delicacies, visited the historical city of Tainan and the earthquake museum, and most of all, experienced the hearty hospitality of Taiwan.
