The founder of Nitori Holdings, Mr. Akio Nitori has provided Japanese Language and Culture Department with the “Nitori International Scholarship” for the 4th year. In this year, five students have been qualified to receive the scholarship. On June 12th , the CEO of Nitori Holdings in Taiwan area, Mr. Sugiura, had awarded the prize to the five students, including junior students: Zhang, Meng-Huan, Chen, Yu-Chen, Chen, Guan-Rong and master students: Chen, Bo-Chun, and Hung, Yi-Ting. In addition to the scholarship, the five students also received the biography of Mr. Akio Nitori, “運は創るもの” as the present.
Mr. Akio Nitori has a strong connection with Taiwan. In order to express the appreciation for Taiwanese’s donation and assistance during the hard time caused by the earthquake in March 2011, he chose Taiwan as the first oversea country to receive the scholarship in 2014. He anticipates that the scholarship could encourage the students and to improve the research about Japanese topics to have the positive influence on the society.
