Honorable guests attending the opening ceremony
According to Envoy Phoebe Yeh of the Taiwan Economic and Trade Office in Indonesia, there are currently 5000 Indonesian students studying in Taiwan; 30% of which are native Indonesians and 70 % Indonesians of Chinese ancestry. These students have generally performed well academically and are welcome in Taiwan, and this suggests that the fifty universities attending the expo provide plentiful academic choices for the incoming Indonesian students.
Medan is one of the Indonesian cities with the most Chinese citizens. To allow students and parents understand Taiwan’s system of education better, university representatives shared information about their departments and programs. Additionally, the University Entrance Committee for Overseas Chinese Students also set up a booth and presented an informational session about studying overseas in Taiwan, hoping to attract more Indonesian students to come to Taiwan.
