The third Cross-Straits Youth Innovation and Entrepreneur Training Camp was held in Nanjing, China, from July 9 to 15. On the last day of the camp, participants entered a project pitching contest. After inspiring and eye-opening demos, competitions, and overall evaluation by the innovation coaches, team CRIS from Tunghai’s Department of Industrial Engineering and Enterprise Information won first place with their “Smart Dynamic Processing System.”
Tunghai’s CRIS team proposed a highly creative and competitive project, the “Smart Dynamic Processing System” that aims to raise industrial efficiency and has already been implemented in the current manufacturing environment in Taiwan. In addition to the CRIS team’s outstanding performance in the training camp, they were also granted funding from TopMaker, a startup preparation and learning platform run by the Ministry of Education.
According to CRIS’s team leader, Shin-Shu Wang, the event provided opportunities for students from China, Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan to interact and exchange ideas with one another, establishing a friendly, competitive, and co-learning partnership within a very short period of time. The camp also trained students to efficiently allocate resources and manage personnel to achieve challenges in a completely new environment. What impressed CRIS even more, though, was the Chinese students’ eagerness to learn, communicate, and execute ideas. CRIS team members, for example, met a sophomore majoring in Mathematics, who had already learned six coding languages and written his own algorithms. The CRIS team further shared their own goals for the months and years after the event, that is, their desire to learn more, their readiness to compete in a global environment, and the ability to analyze a single incident from multiple perspectives.
The Cross-Straits Youth Innovation and Entrepreneur Training Camp is an event dedicated to cultivating young students’ ability to co-work and communicate with one another. Participants come from all regions and areas in China, Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan. There were in total 46 students from Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau, including students from National Taiwan University, Yuan Ze University, Providence University, and other institutions. Training sessions included interactive exchanges, innovative space experiences, the pitching contest, and more. Students were also able to get feedback and suggestions from coaches and potential clients. The Cross-Straits Youth Innovation and Entrepreneur Training Camp is definitely one of the best hubs for generating and exchanging ideas, as well as getting inspiration and learning about project execution.
