On March 24, 2017, Tunghai University organized the Global Partner Day, 10 representatives from 8 partner institutions from Austria, Belgium, France, and Japan visited our campus at Taichung City. The program started off with a meeting hosted by Dean Hong-Wei Yen of the Office of International Education and Programs, introducing the current status and development of Tunghai’s international education. Dean Stano Kong of the College of Arts, Dean Ding-Ya Yang of the College of Science, Director David Kuo of the Sustainable Science and Engineering Program of the International College, Professor John Perez, Director James Sims of the International Business Administration Program, Professor Chu-Li Liu of the Department of Social Work, and Director Rachel Huang of the International Cooperation Section of the OIEP formed the welcome team.
After the briefing, the event took the guests to a campus tour, visiting symbolic sites of the university - the Campus Mall, Time Capsule, Innovation Digital Lab, and the Luce Chapel. The visitors were impressed by Tunghai’s eco-friendly green campus. The meaning of academic and cultural heritage presented by the Time Capsule located on the campus mall also introduced Tunghai’s core spirit of humanity education.
After the campus tour, the partner universities presented their course characteristics, geographical locations, cultures and environment, and their partnerships with Tunghai to our students in a Study Abroad Seminar. Among all, the presentation of Okinawa International University was jointly made by three of its students who were currently on an exchange at Tunghai and one Tunghai student who had been at Okinawa for an exchange. They introduced the study environment and cultural characteristics of Okinawa in fascinating details. Tunghai students who will start their exchange studies in fall also came to meet the representatives from the partner universities. The meetings were both pleasant and informative for the embarking students.
On the same day, a partner university expo was held on De-Yao Road on campus, showcasing flyers, brochures, and introductive videos of over 30 partner universities of Tunghai. The expo attracted students who were interested in expanding their study and life experiences across the borders of countries and continents.
The participating partner universities of the Global Partner Day include J. F. Oberlin University, Gunma University, Okinawa International University, Tokai University, and Tottori University from Japan; ICHEC Brussels Management School from Belgium, Management Center Innsbruck from Austria, and IAE Montpellier University from France. The partner representatives appreciated Tunghai’s hospitality and highly praised its campus environment and students’ global mobility. The organization of the Global Partner Day has successfully strengthened the connections between participating partner institutions and Tunghai.
