Tunghai Open Campus Expo struck great success!

On February 19, Tunghai hosted an Open Campus expo, welcoming in crowds of high school students. The Open Campus event allowed the students to get to know the characteristics of each department at Tunghai. Participating faculty members offered consultancy in applications, guiding students to pick their majors based on their interests. This was also a good opportunity for students to gain a touch of the Tunghai campus life.

Department of Environmental Science teaches high school students to identify real activated carbon masks
The opening of Open Campus started with an amazing performance by the Department of Music. According to Tunghai President Mao-Jiun Wang, the whole university participated into organizing the event, including the nine colleges 34 departments, and two bachelor-degreed programs. The expo was designed to explore high school students’ passion and introduce the departments, inviting all to be a part of the family of Tunghai. All departments had successfully showcased their characteristics and specialties, engaging students and parents in intriguing experiment practices, DIY projects, interactive games, milk tasting, and other activities. Campus bus rides were also offered for the visitors to tour around the campus.

Application and interview techniques sharing
The Department of Life Science presented their collection of lab microscopes and biospecimen, introducing their profession through practical activities. The Department of Environmental Science incorporated the social concern for air pollution issue, designing a game to identify real and fake activated carbon masks. The Department of Chemistry took visitors on a magical trip—making unique artistic glass jars through a chemical process of sodium metasilication. The Department of Industrial Design and the Department of Architecture showcased their 3D models and architecture works. International students of the International College emphasized on the all-embracing environment, while the Department of Food Science demonstrated the use of food inspection equipment. The Department of Mathematics was represented by many geometrical and 3D showpieces, showing the logic and fun behind math.
Besides inviting high school students to experience the beauty and quality of Tunghai’s environment and education, the event also included six seminars on interview techniques as well as introduction of the latest MOOC trends, fully demonstrating Tunghai’s educational diversity and practicality.
