Seventeen business leaders from Taiwan and Southeast Asia returned to the classroom in Bangkok, Thailand, becoming the first cohort of the Dual Master’s Degree Program jointly offered by Tunghai University (THU) and Assumption University (AU). The first course, Corporate Finance and Investment Decisions, was taught at AU’s Hua Mak Campus by Professor Kai-Li Wang, former Dean of THU’s College of Management.

Seventeen business leaders from Taiwan and Southeast Asia returned to the classroom in Bangkok, Thailand, as students of the first dual-degree master’s program jointly launched by Tunghai University and Assumption University.
At the opening ceremony, Minister Tong Szu-Chi of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Thailand remarked that sustainable business success requires not only achievement but also wisdom—and that lifelong learning is the key to deepening both knowledge and insight.

The opening ceremony of the long-prepared dual-degree master’s program was hosted by Dr. Hsieh Tsung-Shun, Director of Tunghai University’s Thailand Education Center.
The long-planned inaugural class opening was hosted by Dr. Chung-Shun Hsieh, Director of Tunghai University’s Thailand Education Center. Distinguished guests included Dr. Pathathai Sinliamthong, Assistant Dean of AU’s Martin de Tours School of Management and Economics (MSME), Professor Shih-Tse Lo, Director of the MBA Program in Business Economics, and Professor Wang.
In his remarks, Dr. Pathathai emphasized that this collaboration is a significant milestone following the 2024 Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed by the two institutions, symbolizing a new chapter in Taiwan–Thailand educational exchange.
He stated, “Education is a bridge to the future. Through the partnership between THU and AU, we are cultivating globally minded professionals while strengthening the educational ties between our two nations.”
Professor Wang noted that the inaugural cohort comes from diverse industries—including finance, manufacturing, aviation, and technology—all serving in senior executive roles. “They chose to pursue further education not merely for a degree but out of a commitment to continued learning,” he said.
Director Hsieh added that the program consists of three courses this semester—two taught onsite in Bangkok by Tunghai faculty members and one taught by Assumption University’s faculty—demonstrating deep collaboration through complementary expertise and co-constructed teaching.
According to Dr. Hsieh, the first cohort includes fifteen prominent executives, many of whom are leaders in Taiwanese business associations or multinational corporations. The dual-degree program emphasizes the integration of industry experience and academic theory, sparking new insights on an international stage.
He stressed that Tunghai places great importance on academic rigor, ensuring that this inaugural class receives the strongest foundation for their professional growth.
Dr. Hsieh also shared that members of the dual-degree EMBA cohort joined fellow alumni in celebrating Tunghai University’s 70th anniversary in Bangkok, where a festive anniversary banquet was held. Guests included Minister Tong Szu-Chi, Executive Yuan Advisor Tsai Tsung-Cheng, representatives of Taiwanese business associations, and many THU alumni.
Minister Tong congratulated Tunghai University on its new achievement in international education, praising the dual master’s program as a new model for Taiwan–Thailand higher education collaboration. Advisor Tsai encouraged students to carry forward the spirit of Tunghai, urging them to “redefine success and let knowledge become the starting point of a renewed journey in life” as they pursue learning abroad.
