At today’s (5th) 70th anniversary sports day, faculty and students celebrated Tunghai University’s rise in the QS Asia rankings, achieving first place among private non-medical universities in Taiwan.
In April of this year, Tunghai won four major awards in the Global Views USR University Social Responsibility Awards. President Chang emphasized at the time, “We are a university with a sense of mission.” Over the past two years, Tunghai has continuously achieved remarkable results in international rankings and the field of sustainability. At the end of last year, it again won the “Taiwan Corporate Sustainability Awards (TCSA): Exemplary Sustainable University Award” for the fifth consecutive year, sweeping four top prizes as the first-place winner in the “Top 10 Exemplary Universities,” along with the Outstanding Sustainability Figure Award, the Gold Award for Chinese Sustainability Reports, and the Bronze Award for English Sustainability Reports. In 2025, Tunghai further claimed four major awards in the Global Views USR Awards, with its “University Sustainability Report” winning first prize, demonstrating its mission of education rooted in faith and validated through action.
President Chang stated that he will continue leading Tunghai toward excellence in teaching, innovative research, and strong performance in international academic rankings. However, he emphasized that Tunghai’s value does not lie in the number of awards it receives, but in “whether we always remember for whom we exist.” Quoting founding president Samuel T. L. Chen, he said, “Innovation is our motto,” and stressed, “To love Tunghai is to embrace change—let transformation and vitality be the driving force that sustains our progress.”

President Chang Kuo-En emphasized, “To love Tunghai is to dare to change, and to let transformation and vitality become the driving force for our sustainable future.”
As Tunghai reaches its 70th year, tens of thousands of roses bloom beside the renewed Tunghai Lake, and the Little Prince’s love becomes a continuation of faith and responsibility. President Chang further emphasized that this symbolizes Tunghai, under the guiding spirit of “Faith, Truth, and Deeds,” moving from past glory toward new honor and stepping confidently onto its transformative path toward a centennial vision.

The anniversary banquet attracted thousands of alumni from Taiwan and abroad, with nearly 100 tables hosted at The Lin Hotel Taichung. Attendees included former Legislative Yuan President Wang Jin-Pyng, Legislative Yuan Vice President Chiang Chi-Chen, and distinguished alumnus Cheng Ching-Ho, Chairman recognized for his contributions to AI education.
