At 3pm on July 30th, the Tunghai University Christian Church held a pastor ordination ceremony for former minister, Deborah Chung. More than two hundred brothers and sisters from the school and the city came to celebrate and witness the glory.
Graduated from Central Taiwan Theological Seminary, Pastor Deborah Chung has been serving and preaching in the Tunghai University Christian Church since 2012. Before so, she served in Pingtung Christian Hospital and Taitung Holiness Church, acquiring quality work experiences in the countryside of Southern Taiwan. During her years serving in Tunghai, Pastor Chung is mainly responsible for caring for the elderly and retired faculties, which has won her a positive reputation.
During the ceremony, Pastor Chung Chang, a member of the Pastor Ordination Group, delivered a sermon to encourage Pastor Deborah Chung to remain a loyal and humble servant of God. The ceremony was also graced by poems presented by Pastor Deborah Chung’s sisters and elders from her small group. Chairman of the Pastor Ordination Group and also Dean of Academic Affairs of Central Taiwan Theological Seminary, Pastor Daniel Wu, explained the Pastor Exam. He stated that becoming a pastor was different from becoming a perfect person, but rather, one should become more dedicated to growing in God’s grace and fellow brothers’ and sisters’ support. The members of the Tunghai University Christian Church prayed for and supported the Shepherd’s work and life together.
Pastor Deborah Chung is the first and only female pastor in Tunghai University Christian Church. Chaplain and senior pastor Wayne Lee expressed appreciation to Pastor Chung’s family and the deacons board of Tunghai University Christian Board, for they unconditionally supported Pastor Chung. Because of their support, the Church acquired a great shepherd to guide the lambs of God. President Mao-Juin Wang was on a business trip abroad but sent a congratulatory bouquet to encourage Pastor Chung to “suffer for Christ, and look out for the herd of lambs.”
