After more than forty years since graduating, Dr. Ming-Tung Lee returned to Tunghai University to share his learning experiences and success principles with a speech titled "My Growth and Leadership Philosophy: Taitung Boy, Tunghai Alumnus, American University President." Lee, a book lover, expressed his nostalgia for the rich scent of books at Tunghai University, as he did not have access to such a large library at his hometown Taitung. To him, the strong humanity atmosphere crucially nurtures students' soft strength. Dr. Lee credited the education in Tunghai's Foreign Languages and Literature Department (FLLD) for instilling confidence in him, empowering him to overcome the consecutive challenges he faced in the United States.

Tunghai University President Kuo-En Chang noted that both he and president Lee share a common educational philosophy. When discussing current educational issues, they both believe that the purpose of university education is to nurture students' diverse development, and to establish professional competence and confidence. All reforms in the university should benefit the students and ensure sustainability. David Cheng, Chair of the FLLD Alumni Association, introduced Lee and praised his contributions to education. Cheng said that Lee's achievements demonstrate that Tunghai graduates not only possess solid professional skills but also have a global view.
