Tunghai University welcomed Professor Kuo-En Chang as the tenth President on January 27, 2022. Former President of National Taiwan Normal University, Prof. Chang announced administration innovation, cross-discipline model, sustainability development and international connection as four major approaches towards the goal for Tunghai University to be a future university of flipped education, model and glory.

The presidency hand-over ceremony was attended by Taichung City Deputy Mayor Bruce Linghu, former Vice Legislative President Chin-Ping Wang, former Minister of Education Ching-Ji Wu, former Minister of Communications Kuang-Shi Yeh, former Academia Sinica President Fan-sen Wang, Changhua Deputy County Mayor Tian-Fu Lin, Taichung City Education Bureau Director-General Chen-Sheng Yang, New Taipei City Education Bureau Director-General Ming-Wen Chang, Taiwan Chamber of Commerce Chairman Guo-Chou Tsai, Taichung Veteran’s Hospital Superintendent Shi-An Chen, and 22 high school principals and faculty of Tunghai University.
Tunghai University Chairman Ching-Mai Wu thanked President Mao-Jiun Wang for his dedication in administering a steady operation of the university for the past 6 years and hoped the new President Kuo-En Chang to further create Tunghai with glory.

Outgoing President Mao-Jiun Wang said that his academic life started at Tunghai University and was thankful for the opportunity to return to Tunghai to serve for more than 2200 days. Wang thanked the administration team, faculty, alumni and university board for their support in creating memorable achievements, such as being listed at top 200 at global university influence index in 2019 Times Higher Education world university ranking, Excellence Award in Friendly Campus, Outstanding Award in Physical Education, and Excellence Scholarship in Career Consultation granted by Ministry of Education, as well as several awards as sustainability model university.

President Mao-Jiun Wang
New Tunghai President Kuo-En Chang is an outstanding veteran expert in internet education. His excellence in academic research has won him numerous awards from the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Ministry of Education. In 2021, Prof. Chang received the National Excellent Teacher Award granted by President Tsai Ying-wen. During his presidency at National Taiwan Normal University, the university ranked 15th at the education index in Times Higher Education world university ranking.

President Chang set his goal as to forge Tunghai University into a future university which centers its education at students. Under his leadership, the students will learn with adaptive development, independent learning and high competition. Resources from within and outside of the university will be imported and integrated into the campus to expand the learning space of the students. President Chang believes that only by flipping the education ideas can we face the future. He hopes to expand the characteristics of the traditional liberal arts education and labor education of Tunghai to create a future university of flipped education, model, glory and unity.
