15 students from Malaysian Sin Min Private High School, led by its principal Mr. Chang Boon Ong, visited Tunghai University on November 23rd to 24th. Principal Ong personally planned for the trip and intended to make the visit to higher education institutions in Taiwan an eye-opener to his students, which in turn would help them set targets for advancing their study and lay out a long term study roadmap.
To meet the expectation of principle Ong, THU arranged for two special practical programs for the visiting young students – labor practice and digital learning.

The students first experienced one of the unique education features in Tunghai University – Labor education. By participating in the labor program, together with THU freshmen led by squad team leaders, the high school students gained a taste of THU philosophy in building proactive and cooperative attitude towards life through service learning. The director of labor program Ms. Mei-Chen Wang met with the students after the physical practice and shared her observations on THU students’ gains through taking the labor program and her expectations for future students.

The visitors then headed into the iMac classroom to tryout the digital learning age in Tunghai University. The young students were excited about playing with the fancy gadgets and impressed with the advanced facilities THU offers to its students. Sin Min Private High School alumni who are currently studying at Tunghai University were invited to share their student lives and learning experiences in Taiwan. By listening to the advices from their seniors, the young high school students gained a picture of university life and were better able to set the goals for their further studies.
