2018 Asia Bound Program at Tunghai University
On Nov. 27, the Deans of the College of Engineering and College of Science hosted the welcome party for the Seventh Asia Bound Program at Tunghai University in collaboration with University of New South Wales (UNSW).
The Asia Bound Program is supported by the New Colombo Plan Mobility Scheme of the Australian Government. Since 2012, 5-10 UNSW students have been coming to Tunghai University for short-term research at the College of Engineering and College of Science. In 2018, five students will conduct the three-month projects under supervision of Dr. Yesong Gu, Professor of the Department of Chemical and Materials Engineering, and Dr. Wei-Ting Chao, Associate Professor of the Department of Life Science. Before the end of the program, the five students will present major research results and discuss with the faculty and students in Tunghai University.
The UNSW students are also invited to join in activities organized by Office of International Relations (OIR) for international students, such as the Christmas party and Chinese New Year Gala. In addition to academic exchanges, the Australian students benefit from diverse opportunities to experience the cultures in Taiwan. In the future, the OIR will continue the promotion of this program to deepen international cooperation by the departments and colleges of Tunghai University.
The UNSW students having completed the research in Taiwan in the 2017-2018 Asia Bound Program made a video to share their experiences on the island. Please take a look at their great work!
