The students’design combined the traditional function of ponds, that is to manage water storage and drainage, with a complete urban plan centering on landscape and the environment. The combination of pond with urban planning creates a green infrastructure for the city and helps to regulate the climate, as well as provide spaces for leisure and recreation. In addition, it achieves the goals of sustainability and culture conservation.

Ms. Lai and Ms. Chou stated that they appreciated Prof. Li’s encouragement throughout the competition. They also noted that they specifically chose ponds as the theme of their artwork because ponds are the traditional symbol of their hometown, Taoyuan. They hope that more people can understand the importance of ponds through their design. Combining the aspects of education, energy, environment and landscape, they expect to create a green and sustainable infrastructure in Taoyuan.
