As Tunghai University continues to advance AI-driven education and learning environments, Ms. Jing-Rui Yeh, daughter of late Chemical Engineering alumni Chung-Liang Yeh and Yu-Hsia Yeh, has generously donated US$350,000 in their honor, making possible the establishment of Tunghai’s sixth AI PC classroom. President Kuo-En Chang noted that the couple met, fell in love, and built their life together at Tunghai. Though they have passed on, their legacy lives through their children’s continued commitment to giving back—“a testament to a life filled with love.”

Ms. Jing-Rui Yeh, daughter of late Tunghai Chemical Engineering alumni Chung-Liang Yeh and Yu-Hsia Yeh, donated US$350,000 to establish Tunghai’s sixth AI PC classroom.
With strong alumni support, Tunghai University has, within just six months, successfully established six AI PC classrooms and one B200 AI Pod computing center. On the 25th, the university held the inauguration ceremony of the sixth classroom—officially named the “Chung-Liang & Yu-Hsia Yeh AI PC Classroom”—at the ST019 Smart Technology Building. This state-of-the-art facility is supported by leading global technology partners including ASUS, AMD, and ViewSonic. Equipped with high-performance computing capabilities, the classroom enables advanced applications such as on-device machine learning, large language model (LLM) processing, image generation and editing, AI video production, and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG). It offers students and faculty a world-class learning platform with both data security and future scalability.
Representing the donor family, Ms. Jing-Wen Yeh shared a heartfelt account of her uncle and aunt. Both were members of the fourth graduating class of the Department of Chemical Engineering at Tunghai, where they first met and began their lifelong journey together. Mr. Chung-Liang Yeh, known for his intelligence and precision, pursued a Ph.D. in chemical engineering in the United States in 1965 and later joined Fortune 500 company Air Products, where he rose to the position of Vice President. Mrs. Yu-Hsia Yeh, admired for her grace during her student years, became a steadfast pillar of the family after moving abroad. For the couple, Tunghai was not only the foundation of their academic lives, but also the starting point of a remarkable 60-year journey together. Upon learning of the university’s AI PC initiative, their family decided to transform their gratitude into a lasting legacy—one that would support future generations of Tunghai students and contribute to society.

President Chang remarked that the couple achieved great success in both their careers and family life, leaving a profound influence on the next generation. Although they are no longer with us, their values continue to inspire through their children. “This is the most beautiful embodiment of education,” he said. He further emphasized that the arrival of the AI era represents not merely an evolution, but a revolution in education. Through building a comprehensive next-generation learning environment, Tunghai aims to enhance students’ interdisciplinary capabilities and drive educational transformation. In recent years, Tunghai’s investments in AI education have strengthened its competitiveness in future classroom development, digital learning innovation, and AI-based education. These efforts are reflected in global rankings, including being named the top private university in Taiwan for two consecutive years in the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings, as well as its continued rise in the QS World University Rankings. President Chang noted that alumni support remains a vital force in the university’s development and expressed hope to nurture more innovative, interdisciplinary talents for the future.

President Kuo-En Chang (center), Director Ku-Lung Lin, and representatives from ASUS, NVIDIA, and AMD attended the unveiling ceremony.
At the unveiling ceremony, distinguished guests in attendance included Ku-Lung Lin, Director of the Taichung City Government’s Digital Affairs Bureau; Yi-Hsiang Liao, General Manager of ASUS; Yi-Wei Chu, Senior Sales Director of NVIDIA Taiwan; Wei-Chiao Huang, Senior Sales Director of AMD Taiwan; Tsan-Liang Su, President of the Greater New York/New Jersey Alumni Association; Shih-Yao Lee, CEO of TEFA; as well as Kuo-En Chang, Vice President Chia-Hsiu Chang, Vice President and Academic Affairs Dean Ting-Ya Yang, and other senior administrators from Tunghai University. Director Lin expressed his admiration for Tunghai’s alumni and pride in being part of the Tunghai community. He noted that the university has demonstrated remarkable foresight in its AI education strategy. Under President Chang’s leadership, the vision of “AI Tunghai: Generating the Future” has been transformed into reality through the establishment of top-tier computing centers and AI classrooms, as well as the advancement of innovative educational practices. Lin further emphasized the strong collaboration between the Taichung City Government and Tunghai, including long-term initiatives such as AI outreach camps for rural students and AI certification programs aimed at talent development. He added that the city will continue to strengthen its partnership with Tunghai and work together toward digital transformation.
Alumnus Tsan-Liang Su, President of the Greater New York/New Jersey Alumni Association, shared that the donation was made possible through connections among classmates, inspiring Ms. Jing-Rui Yeh to give back to her parents’ alma mater. He also noted that a decorative “iron window grille” installed in the classroom—designed by Ms. Yeh’s sister—artistically captures memories of the couple’s student life at Tunghai. Through this space, younger generations are invited to experience the learning environment of the past. Beyond enhancing facilities, the donation represents the enduring love and connection alumni hold for their alma mater across generations.
