Dean of College of Science Huang-Nan Huang stated that students were concerned about the financial burden of attending private universities. To ease the concern, the College of Science at Tunghai University is generous in providing scholarships. In the first semester, the Department of Applied Physics awards scholarships worth 60,000 NT dollars, and the Department of Life Science provides full tuition assistance for students who meet certain criteria in their freshman year. Other scholarships include the Department of Chemistry Alumni Scholarships, Excellent Freshman Scholarships and Paul Alexander Freshmen Merit Scholarship for Department of Life Science and Outstanding Freshman Scholarships for the Department of Applied Mathematics. All of which, in line with government policies, can make Tunghai University's tuition fees lower than those of national universities.
