Global Views Magazine Announces 2022 USR Award Shortlist Tunghai University Tops Number in Finalists

Global Views Magazine announced the shortlist of its "2022 University Social Responsibility Award" on March 4, with a total of 154 entries. After the first stage screening, 27 schools were shortlisted for 36 projects, and 12 schools were shortlisted for comprehensive performance, making a total of 48 finalists. Among them, Tunghai University and National Cheng Kung University each won 4 finalists. Tunghai University topped private school in the number of finalists.
This is the third year for Global Views Magazine to select the USR Award and the first time for "Comprehensive Performance" to be considered a separate award. Referencing international criteria, such as "The Times World University Review" and "World Green University Rankings", the evaluation weighed "sustainable governance", "green campus", "USR plan" and "SDGs research" to score the implementation of sustainability performance of a school. Tunghai University was shortlisted in the general university group for its exploration of local issues and the cultivation of sustainable value in green energy talents.
In the Outstanding Project Category, Tunghai University was shortlisted for the Talent Co-learning Group, the Industry Co-creation Group and the Ecological Co-benefit Group.
The new Talent Co-learning Group emphasized in a university applying education to promote student learning assistance or to cultivate specific talents. Tunghai University was shortlisted for "The Power of Companionship Through Digital Connections - Reversing the Dream of Children in Remote Areas." The project has been helping disadvantaged students and guiding their academic progress in an attempt to flip the future of children in rural areas.
In the Industry Co-creation Group, Tunghai entered the shortlist through joining hands with Amazon AWS in the project "From Cloud to AI, Establishing a Co-creation Platform for Industrial Digital Transformation and Sustainable Competitiveness" to assist the local traditional companies transform with AI technology.
Donghai was shortlisted in the Ecological Co-benifit Group for the " from Dongdaxi to Fazixi, from My to Our Sustainable Water Environment Citizenship Movement” project. With the goal of creating a green, happy life and sustainable campus, Tunghai continues to promote sustainable water environment movement together with the Taichung City Government. It is well on its way to become a green university.
