Tunghai University Freshmen Orientation Course— Transform and Step out of the Comfort Zones
The Tunghai University Freshmen Orientation Course took place from September 4th to 7th, 2018. The theme of this year was “Transform,” which meant that students were in transition from senior high school students to college students, teenagers to young adults, and dependents to independents. The university established an environment where freshmen can explore themselves, build connections, change what they used to do and step out of their comfort zones. It is the time to live independently and learn about consequences.
In the Opening Ceremony, the Deans of nine colleges held the spirit flags and led 3500 freshmen to the seats and made the hall extraordinarily bustling. They presented the theme “Transform” by performing gestures of super heroes like Superman, Spiderman and the Hulk. This activity showed the students the importance of practicing step by step. Furthermore, in the drama performed in the course, the audience picked up the college student experience. For instance, interacting with teachers in class, becoming a better person after being refused by others, adjusting between family’s expectation and personal interests, and pursuit of his/her career goals in the future.
