To promote higher education exchange, on April 18, 2017, Senior Executive Officer Cheng-Tsai Yu of the Taiwan Overseas Community Affairs Council (OCAC) and Vice Chairman Willy Yanto Wijaya of the Perhimpunan Alumni Taiwan Indonesia led 29 Indonesian school leaders to visit Tunghai. Tunghai was represented by Dean Ding-Ya Yang of the College of Science, Dean Wen-Dee Chiang of the College of Agriculture, Chair Chin-Yin Huang of the Department of Industrial Engineering and Enterprise Information, Chair Ming-Li Hsieh of the Department of Life Science, Director James Sims and Director David Kuo of the International College, Dean Hong-Wei Yen and Director Rachel Huang of the Office of International Education and Programs, and Tunghai’s Indonesian students.
Under the planning of OCAC, the Indonesian visiting group had a 7-day visit in Taiwan. The visit to Tunghai University was arranged on the second day. Mr. Willy Huang, as Tunghai’s outstanding alumnus, introduced the perks of studying in Taiwan and Tunghai’s educational capabilities. The visiting presidents were highly impressed and fond of Tunghai’s campus environment.
After the campus tour, the visiting guests and Tunghai representatives joined a luncheon for further discussions and exchanges. Dean Yen of the OIEP thanked the arrangement of OCAC and briefed about the admission channels to Tunghai University and the operation of Taiwan Education Center Indonesia. Senior Executive Officer Cheng-Tsai Yu of OCAC elaborated on Taiwan’s outstanding academic environment and care for overseas students. Yu also emphasized that Taiwan’s education has great competitive advantage internationally. The reasonable tuition fee makes it an even better choice for Indonesian students. More collaboration between Taiwan and Indonesia in the fields of education and business are expected to generate through exchange opportunities such as this event.
