Tunghai University recently conducted information sessions at 12 high schools in Indonesia, showcasing its exceptional higher education environment and diverse academic offerings. These sessions attracted over 1000 attendees. Dr. James Sims, Dean of Tunghai University's International College, highlighted the remarkable achievements of Tunghai's Indonesian alumni in both professional and academic realms. Notably, Sustainability Science and Management emerged as the most preferred field among alumni due to increasing global demand.

To facilitate Indonesian students' admission, Tunghai University established the "Tunghai Education Center Indonesia" (THUEC-Indonesia) at UKRIDA (Krida Wacana Christian University) in Jakarta, its partner institution. Serving as the sole university from Taiwan with such a center in Indonesia, Tunghai collaborated closely with high schools across the country.
From January 21 to 28, 2024, under the meticulous coordination of the Office of International Relations of THU, a delegation led by Dr. James Sims, along with Ms. Lisa Su Sims (Teacher of the Chinese Language Center) and Dr. Nanyu Chen (Director of the Interdisciplinary Degree Program), visited high schools and alumni in Jakarta and Bandung. Dr. Sims delivered compelling speeches, highlighting Tunghai’s educational environment and its English-taught programs, garnering significant interest.

These speeches featured success stories of Tunghai alumni, resonating strongly with the audience. Stories ranged from entrepreneurial ventures in International Business Administration and Sustainability Science to careers in Taiwan’s semiconductor industry and prestigious academic pursuits such as post-doctoral fellowships at Oxford University.
In addition to school visits, the delegation engaged in on-site interviews organized by THUEC-Indonesia, evaluating students' study aspirations and language skills. Many Indonesian students expressed enthusiasm for disciplines like Sustainability Science and Management, International Business Administration, and Computer Science. Furthermore, there was a keen interest in learning Chinese and enrolling in the Interdisciplinary Degree Program. This program emphasizes Chinese language studies and offers English-taught general education courses during the first year, allowing students to specialize in their chosen major starting from the second year onwards.
Many Indonesian students expressed enthusiasm for disciplines like Sustainability Science and Management, International Business Administration, and Computer Science.
The recently launched all-English degree program in Computer Science from the College of Engineering, starting in the fall semester of 2024, also attracted significant interest, highlighting Tunghai University's commitment to innovative academic offerings.
