In an effort to serve the elderly in the surrounding communities, Tunghai University has received donations from health technology companies, including EMG Technology Co., Ltd., INNO-HEALTH Technology, and LUXWELL. These donations consist of professional sports technology and health maintenance equipment. Together, they have established the first on-campus Smart Aging Fitness Center in central Taiwan. Tunghai University has also partnered with Fitness Factory, Sunvis, and Seven Doctors College to organize workshops offering professional guidance on elderly care. This initiative aims to train students and professionals for frontline services, creating a collaborative smart healthcare network.

On the 25th of November, 2023, Tunghai University, led by Vice President Liu Jeng and Professor Wu Min-Huan, collaborated with the Office of University Social Responsibility (USR), the Aging Center, and the Aging Health and Exercise Science Program. They joined forces with health technology companies, including EMG Technology Co., Ltd., INNO-HEALTH Technology, and LUXWELL, to establish the first on-campus Smart Aging Fitness Center in central Taiwan, serving the elderly in the surrounding communities. Simultaneously, Tunghai organized a workshop as part of the Higher Education Sprout Project-Aging Exercise Instruction Workshop, providing a safe and effective exercise space for the elderly in nearby communities. Vice President Liu Jheng stated that aging society is an unavoidable trend, and in the face of a declining birthrate, there is a greater need for professionals who can assist in preventing aging and promoting health. The USR project constructs the Dong Fu Open Health Village, providing a network for mutual assistance among the community's elderly. The establishment of the Smart Aging Fitness Center and the development of a joint medical care system aim to safeguard the health of the elderly.

Tunghai University mentioned that the event began with a presentation by Lu Zhao-Jun, the manager of Power Win Health Co., Ltd., sharing group coaching models to cultivate young students with teaching and guiding skills. Following that, Chen Xian, CEO of Qingsong Health Co., Ltd. and Seven Doctors College, shared the integration of medical rehabilitation and long-term care courses. Lastly, Coach Gao Ding-Hui from Sunvis's Songjiang Branch shared insights into strength training for middle and older age groups. Through a series of professional workshops on aging sports guidance, students quickly mastered the essentials. Subsequently, graduates of the program, including Asia's Powerlifting champion Coach Wu Ming-You, provided guidance and assessment as the students entered the Smart Aging Fitness Center. A total of 40 workshop participants successfully passed the assessment, obtaining certification as Aging Fitness Instructors. They have now joined the instructor team of the Smart Health Care Network, collectively contributing to providing a safe and effective exercise and anti-aging space for the nearby elderly in the community.

Wu Min-Huan, Director of Senior Wellness and Sports Science (SWSS) Program at Tunghai University, stated that the program is the first in the country to integrate smart technology and sports medicine to assist the elderly in delaying disability and achieving successful aging. The program aims to cultivate students into professionals in "preventive sports medicine." With the advancement of an aging society, the concept of "prevention is better than cure" has become crucial in the public's mind, and it is now being implemented at Tunghai. The Office of University Social Responsibility (USR) has the core spirit of promoting the well-being of Tunghai University's surrounding neighborhood communities. It aims to enable the elderly to live happily and healthily in their familiar communities by providing diverse services and activities, enhancing social interaction among the elderly, and offering relevant elderly education. Through collaboration with Tunghai University's USR office, students have the opportunity to gain practical experience, simultaneously helping the elderly delay disability, thereby deepening the exchange and learning between the younger and older generations.
Wu Min-Huan pointed out that the collaboration with EMG Technology Co., Ltd. and the joint development of intelligent hydraulic resistance training systems, INNO-HEALTH Technology's medical-grade handheld diagnostic devices, negative potential therapy devices, and LUXWELL 's rhythmic chairs. They invited 240 elderly people from 16 communities in the Dong Fu Open Health Village to trial the exercise guidance services. The success of the "Smart Aging Fitness Center" has received positive feedback from the elderly in the community. A participant from Yong'an community, Grandma Tsai, mentioned that she had never attended such a fitness center before. She feels physically and mentally relaxed every time she exercises, and her mood improves along with it.
