In response to the rapid development of global technology and the demand for talent with international perspectives, Tunghai University (THU) and Assumption University (AU), both members of the Association of Christian Universities and Colleges in Asia (ACUCA), have launched a new partnership. The collaboration will focus on academic exchanges, research cooperation, student exchange programs, and dual degree initiatives. By leveraging the shared educational strengths of both institutions, the partnership aims to cultivate world-class talent and enhance cross-border resource sharing.

Tunghai University President Chang Kuo-En and Assumption University President Rev. Bro. Dr. Sirichai Fonseka signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) at Assumption University’s Suvarnabhumi Campus in Bangkok. President Chang highlighted Southeast Asia’s economic growth and industry momentum as key factors driving this collaboration. Through academic exchange and technological innovation with AU, Tunghai University aims to advance higher education in the Asia-Pacific region and foster international talent exchange, fulfilling a shared mission of educational excellence. Distinguished guests at the signing ceremony included THU Vice President Liu Zheng, AU Vice President Dr. Uree Cheasakul, MSME Business School Dean Dr. Dhanoos Sutthiphisal, AU Business Administration Director Luo Shi-Ze, AU professor Hsieh Tsung-Shun, THU International Affairs Director Liao Min-Hsun, THU Public Affairs Office Director Huang Chao-Hsi, among others.

During his visit, Chang also met with Mr. Zou Kong-Xun, General Manager of Cal-Copm Electronics (Thailand) Public Company Limited (CCET), to discuss strengthening ties with local enterprises. Tunghai’s EMBA program plans to collaborate with AU’s Faculty of Business Administration to develop cutting-edge management programs and dual degrees, integrating regional economic and trade industries to nurture top-tier business talent.

In addition to undergraduate-level collaboration, Assumption University’s Faculty of Business Administration plans to actively work with Tunghai University’s EMBA program to develop dual-degree initiatives.
President Chang also shared insights into THU’s innovative approach to education, noting that five years ago, the university made “Computational Thinking and Artificial Intelligence” a mandatory course for all freshmen—a decision initially met with skepticism but now recognized as visionary. THU continues to lead in areas such as university social responsibility, sustainability, and AI, achieving a top-100 ranking in the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings 2024 and being named the top large private university in Taiwan by Global Views Monthly. Chang reiterated THU’s commitment to expanding resources and opportunities for students, driving innovation, and restoring the university’s prestige on the global stage.
