THU Industrial Design Department Alumnus Wins 2022 IF Design Awards

The IF Design Award announced the award winners for 2022. Three pieces of work designed by a team led by THU alumnus Yi-Cheng Hsieh of the Industrial Design Department, i.e., Carrefour impact, Jin Jhan – Smart Greenhouses, iDrip Coffee - Every Drip is Science, won the award. IF Design Award is one of the world’s most prestigious design awards organized in Germany since 1953.

Mr. Yi-Cheng Hsieh is currently the chief design officer of 3+2 Design Studio, a design service studio he started for 12 years now. The studio has provided services to over 120 corporate customers and successfully transformed many SMEs. In 2020, Mr. Hsieh was received by President Tsai Ing-Wen for winning the International Design Award (IDA). In 2021, he was awarded Society Innovation Award for Public Space Design by Taipei Design Award Committee. Mr. Hsieh has received over 66 design awards internationally.

Jia-Chen Lu, Chair of THU Industrial Design Department, thanked alumnus Mr. Hsieh for bringing honor to the whole ID department. Prof. Lu further said that with its small-class, teacher-apprentice teaching style, Tunghai Industrial Design Dept. has independent building and dedicated equipment for our students. High school students who are interested in the design are welcome to come to learn in-depth design thinking methods and cross-disciplinary applications. Interdisciplinary Design Master's program and On-the-job program are also available.
