To provide a more convenient digital living environment for the Tunghai community, the school has established an exclusive LineBot platform (https://line.ithu.tw/) on Line@ to replace the traditional APP since 2018. Members of our faculty and students use the platform simply by adding the school account as a friend in their personal Line application. The Tunghai LineBot has comprehensive functions, providing customized menus according to the user's identities as student, faculty or staff.
Through LineBot, students can access their e-student IDs and campus bus cards with e-ticket function; check personal class schedules, exam locations, find campus events and register as well as; browse campus announcements; find campus job opportunities; and check scholarships, graduation qualifications, double major information and academic program related information. Faculty members on the other hand, can check their attendance/travel records, document processes, accounting information, etc. Besides personal function, Tunghai LineBot also provides campus tour highlights, campus news, and up-to-date event information.
In 2020, new functions were added to the platform to expand the convenience of the Tunghai LineBot. They are: 1) body temperature report and record system in response to the COVID-19 prevention measure; 2) virtual identification card for faculty and students with QRCode which make participating campus activities/entering the library more covenient; and 3) campus tour scavenger hunt which helped 3,022 freshmen students become familiar with the campus in no time. Freshmen students also received answers to their questions from the LineBot in a speedy manner.
Looking ahead, the Tunghai LineBot will expand its service to reach our alumni. A virtual alumni card will be available to replace to current paper application for entering the campus area. Furthermore, students walking through the dense acacia forest at night time can turn on the “Acacia Safety Corridor” function to be traced and to call for help when necessary. The Tunghai LineBot will keep expanding its protection and service to the whole Tunghai community, with “digital life, smart campus” as its goal.
