2019 THU SUMMER SCHOOL FOR INDONESIAN PARTNERS

The 10-day Summer School organized by Tunghai College of Agriculture was held in July 2019. A total of 30 students majoring in food science and in animal science from Indonesian Bogor Agricultural University, Diponegoro University, and Unika Seogijapranata University enjoyed an intensive and diversified cultural program in Taichung.

The program included basic agriculture courses, Chinese language, and visits to agriculture research institutions so that students gain an overall understanding of the landscape of agriculture industry in Taiwan. By visiting research institutions such as the Taiwan Agricultural Research Institute and the Changhua Animal Propagation Station of Livestock Research Institute, students learned about the function and status of the research units in Taiwan. Besides holding academic exchange workshops and introducing the status and trends of the farming industry in Taiwan, the program also included visits to Brand’s Health Museum and a local cookie factory. Cultural components of the program included Chinese language, historical tourist site visits, traditional handicraft classes, Taichung Science Museum, Taichung Opera House, etc.
2019 THU Summer School
The purpose of organizing the summer school was to strengthen the academic ties between the College of Agriculture in Tunghai University and the Indonesian partner universities. It is expected that extended collaborative possibilities such as faculty/student exchanges, joint research, co-organizing conferences, study abroad programs, joint Master’s degrees, co-advising doctoral students will be developed. Based on the positive response from the participants, the 2019 summer school has proved to successfully lay a solid foundation for further academic cooperation and for graduate level student recruitment.
